Homeopathic consultations can be done either in person or over the phone. Although the most ideal situation is to conduct the evaluation in person, it is not necessary. Gathering all the information needed for a clear picture of what is going on in your organism can be done either way. You will be asked to give a complete history of your health with an in-depth description of your symptoms. Homeopaths ask a lot of questions about your physical, mental and emotional state, as homeopathy is based on the symptoms the whole body is eliciting rather than names of diseases.

An initial consultation typically will take one to two hours. Thoroughly taking a case is such an important part of homeopathy, and it is often therapeutic in its own way due to the detailed self-evaluation process that is necessary to communicate the state of health in your own unique way. Patience, honesty and being as open as you can are vital. Consultations for children are done in a similar way, and they are encouraged to share and explain their symptoms in their own words with added observations from the parents or guardians.

Follow up evaluations are scheduled as needed to your particular case. Typically, you’ll be asked to check in on how you are doing within the first week after taking the remedy, and then within 4 to 6 weeks after this, and then 3 months, etc.

As a layer of illness is lifted a new picture usually develops. Follow-up evaluations will offer the necessary information to determine if and when a new remedy would be needed to continue your healing process.
